Earth sustainable practices

Each of our products is easy both on you and on the environment.  We consider all the costs in creating our products—not just the price tag— so we can examine the environmental impact of our products from  their conception to end of life.  Our choice of raw materials, suppliers and all other parts of our supply chain is directed at minimising the impact on the earth while maximising the value for you. So, every time you choose to buy a Saltpetre product you choose to be earth-positive.

The choices that make us

1. Sustainable design

We build our products to be fashion-trend-agnostic. You will find our designs to be minimal, functional and comfortable; devoid of any adornment that doesn’t serve a functional purpose.

2. Magic in materials

Saltpetre products are made from materials that maximise your comfort with minimal impact on the environment. They are sourced from suppliers who are either certified to be eco-friendly or have been checked by our team for their practices.

A lot of our environment friendly fibres are from here:

3. Localised production

Saltpetre products are designed by partners around the world but their production is
localised. Lesser transit equals lesser carbon footprint.

4. Seed starter packaging

Every shipment of Saltpetre comes with some herb seeds.

Use our specially designed 100% biodegradable packaging to incubate the seeds for 4-6 weeks in which time they should germinate into saplings. In a small way, this can help offset some of the environmental impact and you can build your own edible garden.

5. The Saltpetre loop-back

We make it easy for you to put your Saltpetre products back into the system after you no longer need them. Just email us with “Loop back” in the subject line and we will take it from there. The products are collected from you and sent to the closest warehouse of Goonj, an organisation that turns the age old charitable act of giving old material into a development resource.

6. Impact measurement

Unless you measure something, you don’t know if it is getting better or worse. We track the environmental footprint of our products from cradle to grave and share this information with an independent research team at Indian Institute of Technology. The team quantifies the impact of our products to compare with an industry standard. We publish what impact each product has on the environment, as and when the results are made available. This way you make empowered choices and we can create better solutions.
